Join taiao practitioner Charmaine Bailie (Te Uri o Hau – Ngāti Whātua ki Kaipara) and artist Holli McEntegart (Pākehā - Irish Gaelic, Ulster Scots, English) at a series of monthly workshops at the Daldy Street community gardens to explore te taiao and natural dyeing practices.
With creativity, connection and intergenerational knowledge sharing at the fore – the workshops present an opportunity to co-create public art, while addressing the importance of sustainable practices and connection to place.
Join us for a fun, hands-on indigo dye workshop for kids! Run as part of 𝘕𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘢, the latest iteration of the 𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵, at this workshop, you will make a fermented indigo vat and turn fabric into one-of-a-kind blues. You'll learn about dye plants, before preparing the dye bath ready to dip and swirl fabric as it transforms before your eyes. Playful, hands-on, and a little messy - come along to explore and experiment. Be sure to wear clothes you’re happy to get colourful!
