For the first time, Africa Day, now in its 5th year, is expanding to include an African exhibition titled The Sum of Our African Parts.

This multi-media exhibition includes:

  • A short Afro-futuristic film by Jennifer Onyeiwu

  • African garments and designs by Rosemary Bennett of Masafinyas

  • Artworks by Jane Benney, Ianna Johnson, Janina Nana Yaa and Mary Adeosun

  • Paintings, sculptures and mixed-media works

Visitors are invited to explore individually themed rooms within the Silo 6 and relax in a welcoming African lounge space.

There will be an opening event and meet and greet with artists on Saturday, 16 May, 2pm to 5pm.

The exhibition runs daily from Saturday 16 May to Saturday 23 May, 11am to 4pm.

Workshops

Three free, artist-led workshops will be offered:

  • Tuesday, 19 May, 6pm to 8pm - West African bead making and sketching or colouring.

  • Thursday 21 May, 6pm to 8pm - Paint and Sip with Ianna Johnson.

  • Saturday, 23 May, 12pm to 2pm - Braid and paint with Mary Adeosun.
