Starring an extraordinary NZ cast including Cliff Curtis and James Rolleston, The Dark Horse is an inspiring true story based on the life of a charismatic, brilliant but little-known New Zealand Hero and chess champion - Genesis Potini, aka Gen.

The Mayor's Movie: Goodbye Pork Pie More info

The Mayor's Movie: Goodbye Pork Pie

The Mayor's Movie returns to Silo Cinema for Auckland Anniversary Weekend in 2015 - with a golden Kiwi classic, "Goodbye Pork Pie"

There was a time in New Zealand when, growing up, you either drove a Mini or a VW Beetle. This film, produced by legendary local film duo Mune and Murphy, draws upon the sentiment of that era.

Goodbye Pork Pie follows the story of a young misfit, Gerry - who hires a yellow mini in Kaitaia using a stolen license - and John - whose girlfriend of six years has just left him and moved to Invercargill. John is devastated and needs to talk to her. He has no transport and needs a ride. Together with the little mini that Gerry names "Pork Pie", they hit the road to travel the length of the country. Their high speed exploits earn them the name "the Blondini gang". The police, however, take a dim view of this and make it their mission in life to stop the Blondini boys from reaching their destination.

Point Break thanks to Royal Caribbean

Silo Cinema is bringing a coastal classic to the Silo screen: Point Break.

This film is one which surfers and land-lovers alike will connect with, featuring all the action and panache expected of an early-90s Hollywood power film.

Point Break is set in Los Angeles, where a gang of bank robbers who call themselves the 'ex-presidents' commit their crimes while wearing masks of ex-presidents Reagan, Carter, Nixon and Johnson. The F.B.I. believes that the members of the gang could be surfers and send young agent Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) undercover at the beach to mix with the surfers and gather information. Utah meets surfer Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) and gets drawn into the lifestyle of his new friend.

This screening is proudly brought to you in association with Royal Caribbean Cruises
